This varies from case to case! Sometimes a mold inspection is not necessary such as someone wanting just a specific yes or no answer to whether or not their building(s) has mold(s), post remediation testing, visible mold already in site, bank owned properties and etc. Other times, both an inspection and testing will be in order. Our representatives will assist you in providing recommendations during our phone consultation.
How should I prepare for a mold inspection - testing?
You should visit this link and follow the recommendations.
What does a mold inspection cover?
Water stains, high moisture levels on building components, high humidity levels, temperature levels, visual discolorations, construction defects, poorly maintained building components, proper grading, missing building components, visual discoloration, mildew smell, owner reported problems, insect "farming", improper ventilation, plumbing leaks, appliance leaks, improper insufficient caulking, window - door leakage and etc.
Does your inspection - testing cover inside of Drywall or Tile?
Not usually. Drywall and tile will need to be removed prior to inspection and/or testing. We can spot or sometimes air sample a drywall stud area (usually 2 feet in width) but, this would take the written approval of you, the owner to allow us to cut a 3 inch by 3 inch hole in a section of drywall. This testing is very limited and should be used only on specific areas where potential mold(s) or moisture infiltration have been identified. Pricing.
Do your mold services cover all components of my home/business?
They could, if your hire us to perform a complete mold inspection and testing. Otherwise, we will recommend services during our phone consultation, using the information that your provide as well as on-site. Additional recommendations will be given in your mold inspection report (if purchased).
How will I get my inspection report and lab results?
Your mold inspection report (if purchased) will be delivered to you via e-mail. The lab results (if purchased) will be delivered in .PDF format to the e-mail address that you specify. Both reports will be e-mail delivered within 3 business days. Next Day results are available for an additional fee.
Can I clean up mold myself?
There are a very few instances where localized cleaning could be performed. if the mold(s) is more than 1 " x 1 " in size, there is more than one area or the mold reoccurs, a professional mold inspection and/or testing is highly recommended. We recommend this due to the fact that molds, when wiped down, are easily spread without professional containment to other areas of the building. Do not wipe mold(s) prior to any mold services being performed.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept credit cards over the internet only for an additional fee. On site payment is by check or cash only.
Do I need an Industrial Hygienist to perform a mold inspection - testing at my home or commercial building?
How long will it take for lab results to get back?
Usually 3 business days (if purchased). If you are in need of 24 hours results, an additional charge will apply (usually around $80.00).
My mold test came back positive for elevated or unusual mold(s) via the lab's results; what do I do now?
Follow the recommendations in your mold inspection report (if purchased and this web page). Call mold remediation companies to acquire cost estimates for mold clean-up/remediation.
A link will be provided in your Mold Inspection Report (if contracted for) of local professional Remediators.
My home - business has been recently remediated, what do I do next?
Call us for post remediation testing. This will ensure that effective repairs have been made. Usually reputable mold remediation companies will not perform this testing but, suggest that you hire an outside company. Be wary of specific company recommendations given by the mold remediation company.
Should I stay in my residence or workplace if it was determined that unusual or elevated mold levels were/are present?
These decisions have to be made individually in most cases. If you believe you are ill because of exposure to mold in a building, you should consult your physician to determine the appropriate action to take. If known toxic mold(s) were found via testing we will recommend temporary relocation.
Should I wash all of my clothing and/or clean my carpets & furniture if an elevated or unusual mold level(s) have been determined at my residence or workplace?
You should consult with your contracted mold remediator in regards to this. Generally, we do not take samples of such unless specifically (in writing) requested, but if an elevated or unusual mold level is concluded in or around the surrounding areas (via the lab), you should consider doing so.
Is it possible that other areas of mold exist after your inspection - testing?
Yes. Unless you have contracted us to perform a complete residential/commercial mold inspection and testing (please consult your pre-inspection agreement), it is possible.
Are my pets' health in jeopardy if it is determined that there is a unusual or elevated mold level in my house?
Yes, it is a potentially hazardous condition for both people and pets. Any living organism should vacate the premises until satisfactory remediation, post remediation testing & veterinary evaluation have been performed.
